Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library - Three new exhibits are open at San Jose’s flagship library. Day of the Dead: A Passion for Life, open through Nov. 27, features photos that showcase the traditions of several Mexican regions during this fascinating pre-Hispanic holiday. From Internment to Segregation documents Japanese internment during World War II, while World War II Revisited displays war posters used to inform civilians of their wartime duties such as buying bonds and joining the workforce. Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo - Explore puzzles, experiment with wind power and build fantastical creations. Observe 50 native and exotic animals including bobcats, jungle bats, a leopard shark, an owl and two new hedgehogs named Pinto and Spike at this beloved community museum and zoo. 10am-5pm Tues.-Sat. and 1-4pm Sun., except holidays. Pasetta House, History Park - Everyday San Jose, opening Nov. 27, showcases more than 25 contemporary paintings by Wayne Jiang that capture San Jose’s people, buildings and interiors and imbue them with tranquility and mystery. Jiang was born in Guangzhou, China and came to the US at 15, earning an art degree from San Jose State University. 11am-4pm Sat.-Sun., through May 30, 2010. The Tech Museum of Innovation - A collection of problem-solving inventions from around the world opened this fall in the new Technology Benefiting Humanity gallery. Showcased inventions include low-cost glasses that can be tuned by the wearer; wind, solar and hybrid technologies that power boats; and DNA technology used to clear innocent people of crimes. The projects are past Tech Awards Laureate winners, chosen annually to recognize inventions that address critical social problems. 10am-5pm daily. $8. 201 S.
