Banana Slug String Band Concert - The Banana Slug String Band treats dad to an outdoor musical adventure, blending environmental messages with theater, puppetry and great tunes. Pack a picnic and blankets or chairs for the concert. Come early and stroll around the 1,600-acre farm and wilderness preserve. 5:30-7:30pm Sun., June 21. $15 adults, $12 children. Filoli Jazz Concert - On Father’s Day, consider treating dad to a day of jazz by pianist wizard Benny Green playing with famed guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli. The concert kicks off Filoli Garden’s 19th jazz concert series, which continues 6 additional Sundays through Sept. 20. Concertgoers receive snacks, wine, beer and sparkling water. Hats Off to Dad - Treat dad on a steam train ride up Bear Mountain and back or meet a ranger at the top for an hour-long nature walk through the Redwoods back to camp. One lucky dad per ride will ride down the mountain in the locomotive cab. All dads get engineers’ caps with the purchase of a train ticket and chuck wagon barbecue platter. The event includes model trains on display and ongoing live country entertainment. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series - The NASCAR Sprint Cup series makes its only Northern California stop during the 2009 racing season on Father’s Day weekend for the Toyota Save Mart 350.
